Those illustrations look gorgeous!

That is so true about young adult fiction. Every book recommended for my daughter at 13 seemed to be a terrible future in which bad things happen and then young people are blamed for their general cynicism and pessimism.

Haley, I can't wait to read Saintly Creatures! It looks like a beautiful book. And you can't go wrong with stories about amazing animals. Congratulations to you, to Alexi, and to the whole WOF Spark team!

Haley, I loved the interview with Brandon Vogt! I’m slightly younger than you (I’ll be 37 in November) and Madeleine L’Engle was probably my favorite author from my childhood, especially A Wrinkle in Time and Many Waters. When you do the Word on Fire Spark podcast, please do invite Jan Brett for an interview. I don’t think she’s Catholic, but her children’s books and illustrations have a real sacramentality to them, and one of her books tells the story of Noah’s Ark. I’d love to hear about Jan Brett’s childhood and what inspired her work. Her adaptations of The Mitten and Beauty and the Beast and several other of her picture books in the 1990s nourished my sense of beauty and wonder and fed my imagination as a young boy and now they are doing the same for my niece and nephews and godchildren. Please invite Jan Brett to do an interview for your podcast.
