"Rootedness is something I struggle with."

I hear you. I, too, see the value in it and yet I have never truly felt it. I was an Air Force kid, moving around a lot as a kid, never feeling that I had a true home. I recently spoke at my daughter's college faith group, and I mentioned this as its own kind of gift from my childhood — never having a "real" earthly home helped me to grasp the reality that this earth is NOT my home. And yet I understand the beauty and value of roots and community. It's a subject that fascinates me and that I want/hope to write more about.

My parents were Air Force kids, too! Then they stayed settled in the my hometown where they went to college for almost 50 years before moving again. I'm fascinated by "home" and how we cultivate it. I also think it's high time we got to meet in person and talk about this over coffee!

First, I must say that Miss Scarlett and the Duke is television at its very best! Second, I hope you've completely recovered from being sick. Third, thank you for sharing the article by Nick Ripatrazone. I'm 100% certain he's never read anything I've ever written (though I have many readers in Newark), but he described my books to a T. I really enjoyed reading his observances of Catholic fiction.

Have a great weekend, Haley!
