Thank you for sharing my piece, Haley!

I felt similarly to you about the two older Charlie movies, and haven't felt inclined to share them with my kids. What age do you think the new one is suitable for? My kids are very sensitive but sounds like it could work at 4 and 6?

Really loved that piece! I tend to let my imagination run away with me when I think about living in more romantic cities!

Haley I am interested in the Studio Ghibli world but have never seen any of the films. Where would you (or your readers) recommend we start? My kids are 8, 8, and 5 and ideally we'd like to watch them as a family, though based on your description of The Boy and The Heron I think that might be a bit mature for our crowd for a few more years.

Hmmmm. Some of them are very suspenseful/scary and some are pretty violent. I would say that Kiki's Delivery Service is probably a good one to start with or My Neighbor Totoro. (In full disclosure Kiki is a little girl who is a "good witch" and delivers baked goods on her broom. Nothing creepy, but some families are opposed to any media with witches so I wanted to warn you.)

I loved Wonka too. I ended up going to it twice: first with my husband, brother, and sister-in-law and then again with my mom. 💛

Thanks Haley for the recommendation of The Boy and the Heron. Sadly, it is no longer showing at my local theater, so I'll have to wait for streaming/blu ray. I'm slowly making my way through Miyazaki's filmography.

I appreciated your comments on Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro as those are movies my sons watch with their kids and had us watch. Now I understand better, will look forward to seeing the newest one.
