Definitely the Jane Austen novel I’ve read the least. First go around I had trouble getting over the whole first cousins thing. Subsequent go arounds I was able to focus on character and plot and came to appreciate it a lot more. She has some of the most morally fascinating, and gray, characters in this book and it’s amazing to see what she does with them

I just started this book as my next postpartum reading! Looking forward to this! Sad to have missed the discussion on Emma as it’s a favorite.

Haley, I am in Dublin, Ireland, with my sister right now (my first time in Ireland) and I got a copy of Mansfield Park in a bookstore and told her about you. She's a fellow Janeite! My sister is doing some research in the library and I am starting to read it!😄

I read Lovers Vows over the weekend in preparation- there are some common plot and character elements that jumped out to me.

I didn't like Mansfield Park very much the first time, so I'm hoping I can appreciate it more on the second read.

It never would have occurred to me to look up the original text of the play!

It's good, very dramatic, but enjoyable. I listened to the libribox version and the different readers for each part did an incredible job.
