I’ve been on a Jane Austen kick lately and was just wondering yesterday if any Catholic had written something like your book—it’s going on my list!

Oh! I hope you enjoy it!

Random question sparked by your post- what are your thoughts on your smart ring? I've been toying with the idea for a little while but can't decide if I actually think it would be helpful or just want another fun gadget to use!

I really, really love it!!

Currently OBSESSED with The Other Bennet Sister. My best friend from high school (with whom I would have sleepovers and pull all nighters to watch the 1995 P&P miniseries) and I have been texting each other every Wednesday when BritBox puts a new episode on Amazon. It’s a lovely way to stay connected in the craziness of life

Wishing nothing but the best for you and your family, Haley! So glad you were able to enjoy time at your parents' place. Wish I could travel more, but it's just not in the cards during this season of life.

Noah Kahan’s music is just so, so incredible. I had the pleasure of seeing him live in Spokane WA in 2023— phenomenal show, even if the concert was cut short by hazardous air quality from a nearby wildfire

One-on-one travel with kids sounds amazing. It’s a long way off for me since mine are 4, 2, and newborn but I’m wondering how you cope with missing your other kids while you’re away? Maybe it’s just my kids’ ages but the thought of being separated from any of them makes me so sad!!

I didn't leave my kids when they were little much at all (I think I actually took too few breaks to the detriment of my own mental health). But I find it easy to travel solo with older kids. I do think it might be an age thing!

Im so confused. I fly in and out of Atlanta frequently, so I googled the sinkhole incident, but it wasn’t on the news. Were you in New York instead? Looks like LGA had a sinkhole a few weeks ago

Haley Stewart's avatar

No, the sinkhole was at Tri-Cities airport in TN! The airport was closed for about 48 hrs. Coming in to ATL was fine we just couldn't fly from there to TRI. Sorry if that was unclear!

got it! I saw the news reports about that one! As a Tennesseean, we get sink holes like craazzzyyy

I would love your Buried Giant take because I also love Remains of the Day, and medieval stuff, but did… not love The Buried Giant so much? But also can’t stop thinking about it? Weird but compelling book!

I laughed when I got to the part about the sinkhole because I live in the TriCities. 😄 That was a very unexpected news event earlier this week!

My daughter told me Noah Kahan was performing at Bonnaroo—an hour from us—and I wanted to drop everything and pay the $$$$ festival price to see only him. Wisdom prevailed, alas! Also a huge sinkhole opened in downtown STL yesterday and I worried a bit about a September trip to see a Cardinals game. Hopefully it will be repaired by then??
